Mortal Shell 2 Vlas Quest: Find Mutton, Then the Cage

How do you finish the Vlas quest?

Start with Vlas in the Outskirts of Mammon, look for his cat Mutton, then find him caged at Lonesome Spire and buy from the vendor before you give him the key. The on-screen prompt is Speak with Vlas.

Other NPC loops stay on NPC quests. This page is only Vlas.

First spot: Outskirts of Mammon

Vlas has lost his companion. On-screen he names the cat Mutton and asks you to look. Talk, search the area near him, then rest at a beacon. After a couple of reloads he leaves that first spot.

Later lines say bandits came back and brought him Mutton’s tail, then that Mutton is safe and the captors let Vlas out to make glue and check on the cat. Follow the moves. Do not stop at the first goodbye.

Second spot: the Lonesome Spire cage

Find Vlas at Lonesome Spire, near a vendor, inside a wooden cage. A key for that cage is nearby.

1. Buy what you need from the vendor beside the cage.
2. Take the nearby key.
3. Give Vlas the key.

After this step that vendor cannot be used. He will not agree to a loud escape at first. He later agrees to slip out at night when his captors are tar-drunk.

After the cage

Return to the first Outskirts of Mammon spot for a letter. He later appears at a keep. One caption calls that keep Mu’s keep. One video title calls it Marrow Keep. This page does not pick a winner.

Common mistakes

• Giving the key first. The cage-side vendor closes after the handoff.
• Stopping when he says stop searching. He still moves to the cage.
• Writing this as a Marrowkeep-only quest. The documented start is Outskirts of Mammon.

Vlas FAQ

Is Mutton a combat pet?

No. Mutton is Vlas’s missing cat. The quest is talk and travel, not a summon.

Does this open a key page?

No. The cage key is part of this quest. Chapel Key and Crypt Key are on keys.

Is Vlas a shop after you free him?

The stall that dies is the vendor beside the cage, not a proven late-game Vlas shop.
