Mortal Shell 2 Final Boss: Zmey, the Unbidden
Zmey, the Unbidden is the last named story fight. Stay close behind, leave the red circle, and optionally offer three glands for Seedbearer's Scripture.
Who is the last named fight?
Current for the launch version.
Zmey, the Unbidden is the last named story fight. The health bar prints that name. You can start the fight without extra gear. Killing Zmey is not the Baghead offering, and it is not New Game Plus.
This page is the last fight and the optional curse item. It is not the first-boss prologue route, and it does not walk the door into the arena.
How to fight Zmey
Stay close behind, near the legs. Do not stand so far back that a jump-down lands on you. Leave when a red circle appears on the boss. Dodge diagonally toward Zmey, not straight away.
| Cue | Answer | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| You have room behind the legs | Stay close to the body | Most swings miss the tight backside |
| A red circle appears | Break off and create space | That cue is treated as a fight-ender if you stay |
| A grab starts | Do not trade | The grab is written as too expensive to eat |
| Fire sweeps the floor | Dodge through at a short range, or use an i-frame spend | Backing straight out keeps you in the stream |
| A curse lands | Use Seedbearer’s Scripture if you brought it | The scripture is the documented cleanse |
| The arena center feels crowded | Drag the fight to an edge | The edge is the safer hold |
The plan is written for any Shell. Tiel is the recommended body because a last-moment Shadow dodge can pull aggro. Strike Stone is the documented i-frame spend when you are boxed in. You do not need a parry window. Learn that timing on the parry page if you want it.
Optional Seedbearer’s Scripture
Three glands turn into Seedbearer’s Scripture at the Forgotten Tower at night. Equip the scripture if the curse is ruining the fight. Skip the hunt if you already handle the arena.
The three documented glands sit on the later southern corrupted-gate runs.
| Gland | Landmark | Why go there |
|---|---|---|
| Depleted Gland | Nameless Pass / Withered Shoals, the hexopod drop | Taken from a hand or husk in that pit |
| Faded Gland | Citadel Annex / Faded Citadel | Drop behind the spawn onto the square box in the middle of the room |
| Thawed Gland | Sester’s Gate | Through the opening dungeon into the winter exterior, then a bone teleporter and a crack in the wall |
After all three, start from the Outskirts of Mammon and walk the Forgotten Tower approach: the end of the bridge, then the later bone teleporters. A note on the door means Night Mode must already be on.
At the top, the giant takes the three glands. The reward banner names Seedbearer’s Scripture. Equip it. It is not a lock on the fight, and it does not open a second secret boss.
Mistakes that make Zmey harder
- Standing too far behind. The jump-down punishes a wide backside.
- Ignoring the red circle. Leave on that cue. Do not finish one more swing.
- Treating Scripture as the start button. The glands help. They do not unlock the arena.
- Calling this Baghead. The nothing-offering stays on endings.
- Forcing a parry plan. The documented loop is spacing, dodge-in, and an i-frame spend.
Final boss FAQ
Who is the final boss in Mortal Shell 2?

No. Tiel is the recommended body. Any Shell can use the backside plan.
Is this New Game Plus?
No. This page is the last named story fight. The next cycle is New Game Plus.

No. The first named fight on the complete prologue route is Gloombound Ritualist.
