Mortal Shell 2 Walkthrough: Fainweald First, Then Mammon

After the first Shell, clear Fainweald's gates, then Mammon. Siphon enough ova at the keep to open the last path.

How the lands open in order

Current for the launch version.

After the first Shell, clear Fainweald’s gates, then Mammon. Both lands open from Marrowkeep after the prologue. Mammon starts behind corruption, so Fainweald is first. Siphon enough ova at the keep and the last path opens.

This page is the regional order. It is not the first-hour plan, the opening Shell route, or a loot list.

The gate order

A spectral camp on the early Fainweald road after the first open-world Shell
RegionWhat you doWhy this is next
Prologue into MarrowkeepFinish the opening, then treat the keep as the hubBoth lands teleport from the roof.
First open-world ShellUse the opening routeThe gates are a bad walk in the base body.
Mushroom Village GateFirst big corrupted gate in FainwealdIt unlocks clearing the corruption that blocks later roads, and it is the first real boss.
Rest of FainwealdWork the land counterclockwise through the side dungeonsThe next big gate is Sanguine Caverns, then the Citadel of Penance on the west side.
NochteTake the traversal south of Widow’s OverlookThis spit is still Fainweald. It holds another Shell and the Prisoner’s Way gate.
Outskirts of MammonRide the keep teleporter southThree later gate roads leave this beacon: west, east, and south.
Last pathSiphon more ova in the keepThe final dungeon opens there. It is not New Game Plus.

Regular dungeons can drop an ovum. The corrupted gates hold most of them. You do not need every ovum. Six big gates exist; a thorough run can skip the last one.

The first Shell can be Proxima or Tiel. This page does not repeat that choice. After you have a body, tag the Mushroom Village beacon and start the gates.

What this order does not include

The Marrowkeep hub after the prologue, where ova go into the siphon

An early siphon at the keep is what lets you clear the corruption on the Mammon road. A later deposit in that same room opens the last path. Mother’s Breath is the beacon hop, not the last dungeon. This page does not invent a count.

Common mistakes

  • Walking Mammon first. The south teleporter is open, but the land is gated by corruption until you siphon enough ova.
  • Treating the first Shell route as the whole walkthrough. The opening route stops at the first body.
  • Skipping the first gate. Mushroom Village Gate is what turns later blocked roads on.
  • Calling the last path New Game Plus. Send Over is a later siphon prompt after Zmey.

Walkthrough FAQ

Do I have to take Tiel before the first gate?

No. Get a Shell on the opening route, then start the Fainweald gates. Tiel sits near Mushroom Village if you want that body first.

When do I go to Mammon?

After the Fainweald gates and the Nochte spit. Then take the keep teleporter to the Outskirts of Mammon.

Do I need every ovum?

No. Siphon enough at the keep. The last of the six gates can wait.

Does this unlock the final boss?

Enough ova open the last path from the keep. The fight itself is the final boss page.

Is this a 100% list?

No. Leftover Shells, achievements, and New Game Plus sit on their own pages.
