Mortal Shell 2 Best Shell: Start with Proxima or Tiel
There is no verified power ranking for all eight Shells. The first-hour best pick is Proxima for the shortest route or Tiel for a dodge-focused start.
What is the best Shell in Mortal Shell 2?
There is no verified best Shell for the full roster. The useful first-hour answer is a job pick: Proxima if you want the shortest open-world pickup, Tiel if you want an early last-moment dodge. Later Shells are named, but their strengths are not ranked here.
A tier list that scores all eight would need stats, abilities, and late-game results this page does not have. The first-hour choice is settled. The rest is not.
| First-hour pick | Choose this when | Do not treat it as |
|---|---|---|
| Proxima | You want a Shell immediately after the prologue, with the shortest documented route | A claim that Proxima stays strongest later |
| Tiel | You prefer a last-moment dodge that enters Shadow and adds stagger | A claim that dodge is always better than Seal timing |
| Stay in the base body | You have not reached Widow’s Overlook yet | A long-term plan; get a Shell before extra fights |
Why the first-hour pick is not a full ranking
Harros is the first Shell you inhabit, but only during the prologue. After Marrowkeep you return to the base body, so the ranking question players actually ask is which Shell should I take first in the open world?
That question has two documented answers and no winner:
- Proxima is the shortest pickup: Widow’s Overlook, left ramp, Black Ridge Pass, Shattered Beacon.
- Tiel is the nearby alternative: a different Overlook path past the dungeon and wooden structures, with enemies you can walk past.
Shorter is not stronger. A dodge reward is not a universal upgrade. The first Shell guide settles the order-of-appearance problem. This page only tells you which of those two jobs to take.
What the later Shells prove — and what they do not
Unlock achievements name Eredrim, Gragu, Smert, Sariel, and Lazlo after the two opening Shells. Completion rates drop as the list goes on, which mostly tracks how far a typical run has reached, not which Shell wins a fight.
Those names now have pickup pages. They still do not belong in a ranked table on this URL. Bonding a single Shell at the Shellkeeper is a separate system from collecting every Shell, so “best” also cannot mean “the one you should max first.”
The eighth playable Shell is official. It is not named here, and it is not ranked here.
How to use this page in the first hour
- Finish the prologue at Marrowkeep.
- Reach Widow’s Overlook.
- Take Proxima if you only want a body quickly, or Tiel if you want the dodge-focused start.
- Return to the hub and learn defense on parry timing and Seals instead of hunting the later five.
If you came here looking for a late-game tier list, the honest result is the same sentence at the top: that ranking is not verified yet.
