Mortal Shell 2 Gloom Farm: Abbey, Grove, and Gate Loops
Three documented Gloom farms: kneeling enemies at Abbey Entrance, hunters at Gloomshade Grove, and coffin enemies at the Gate of Mammon.
Which Gloom farm to run
Current for the launch version.
Run Abbey Entrance after you can dispel corruption. Run Gloomshade Grove after Mother’s Breath. Run the Gate of Mammon when you can handle coffin grabs. All three sit on the map. This page is the loop, not the spend map.
Equip the Tarstone you want to rank before you start a loop. The same kills fill that stone’s bar.
| Loop | Unlock | What you clear | Why pick it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Abbey Entrance | Dispel the black-thorn lock after the Marrowkeep egg siphon | About a dozen kneeling enemies, then a coffin around the corner | Earliest dense Gloom once the path is open |
| Gloomshade Grove | Enough cleanses for Mother’s Breath | Four hunters by the beacon, plus one extra body | Short rest-and-clear; also feeds Tarstone XP |
| Gate of Mammon | Lift at Marrowkeep, turn around, drop through the Outskirts | Coffin enemies that grab if you stand on them | Larger piles once you can stun the coffins |
Abbey Entrance
- Beat Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods at the corrupted gate off the first beacon.
- Cleanse the beacon that appears, ride the teleport to Marrowkeep, and siphon stored eggs. That siphon is what lets you dispel the black-thorn corruption.
- Open the path to the Outskirts of Mammon, then walk the downhill to Abbey Entrance.
- Enter and kill the kneeling group. They do not chase. Save firearm ammo for the coffin enemy around the next corner.
- On a first visit, take the hanging key and finish the local boss if you want later loops to stay empty. If you skip the boss, cleanse, run the stairs, jump down, hug the large building on the left, ride the lift up, and send the lift back down.
Traverse jumps on that downhill only fire if you look at the destination first.
Gloomshade Grove
Start at Widow’s Overlook. After about six or seven cleanses you can turn them in at Marrowkeep for Mother’s Breath, then cleanse far enough to stand in Gloomshade Grove.
Rest at that beacon. Clear the hunters. On a first visit they fight a werewolf-like creature; killing it can drop a Grisha remnant you can wear as a passive or a summon. Weltcaps and gold also drop. Swap a filled Tarstone and keep looping.
This is the same grove used later for Eredrim and Smert. Do not turn the farm into those pickup pages.
Gate of Mammon
From Marrowkeep after the prologue, take the lift up, turn around, and go the opposite way from the usual open-world exit. Clear the thorns, pass Abandoned Outpost on the left, and light Gate of Mammon.
Coffin enemies there drop large Gloom piles and grab for heavy damage if they stand up under you. Learn the spawn tiles. You can kite several together. Skip the tiny 50-Gloom trash.
Collect the Gloom before you jump off an edge to reset at the beacon. A death without the pickup loses the pile.
The same Gate is the landmark for the hidden Glimpse merchant up the ramp behind you.
Common mistakes
- Starting Abbey before the egg siphon. The thorn wall stays shut.
- Standing on a coffin spawn. The grab is the wipe, not the health bar.
- Resetting a Gate loop before touching the Gloom. The pile is gone.
- Calling this a New Game Plus guide. Later areas exist. They are not this page.

Do these loops also level Tarstones? Yes, if the stone is equipped. Rank payment still happens at Franz.
