Mortal Shell II — the title most searchers write as Mortal Shell 2 — is a single-player action RPG from Cold Symmetry, published by Playstack. It launched on 20 August 2026 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S. You inhabit eight playable Shells and fight without a stamina bar. Damage comes from breaking posture and landing the opening that follows, not from outlasting a resource gauge.
The world is compact and interconnected on purpose. This Mortal Shell 2 wiki keeps launch facts and tested opening routes in separate pages, and it leaves later names unmarked until they have a landmark. Store pages file the game under Action and RPG. The souls-like comparison has its own page.
What the first hour actually asks you to do
A new run has three jobs before you wander: finish the prologue at Marrowkeep, inhabit a nearby Shell, and equip a Seal you can miss with. Fighting in the base body past that point is the expensive option.
- Proxima is the shortest open-world pickup: Widow's Overlook, left ramp, Black Ridge Pass, Shattered Beacon.
- Tiel is the nearby alternative if you want a last-moment dodge that enters Shadow. The nearby enemies can be bypassed.
- Open the first beacon chest. The actuator inside must reach Franz before his weapon-upgrade machine works.
- Learn defense on the Untarnished Seal. Infinite Seal comes from Marrowkeep parry training and has no fallback guard. Harden is not a separate menu — it lives on Vatra's Seal.
- On the complete prologue route, the first named fight is Gloombound Ritualist. Clear the adds, take a short punish, reset.
That is the overview. The beginner guide owns the priority list. The opening route owns the turns. Do not treat this homepage as a walkthrough.
Combat without a stamina bar
There is no stamina bar to budget. The defensive input is a Seal. Holding Untarnished blocks ordinary hits and spends a meter; pressing near impact is a Perfect Guard that deals break and can open a riposte. It cannot cancel an attack already in progress. Infinite can cancel, and a miss is a hit. Slayer is the early sidearm Seal: break on the shot, health and Resolve on the riposte.
Exact windows are not listed here. Use the parry timing loop, then the Seals and Harden pages when you are ready to change the input.
Shells and weapons this wiki will name
Official store copy confirms eight playable Shells. Unlock achievements name seven: Tiel, Proxima, Eredrim, Gragu, Smert, Sariel, and Lazlo. Harros is the prologue Shell. The remaining playable Shell is not named here. Pickup routes are documented only for Proxima and Tiel.
Achievements also name thirteen weapons and sidearms, including Axe and Dagger, Forgotten Crossbow, Veteran's Battle Axe, Great Martyr's Blade, Salvaged Trebuchaxe, Axatana, Triarch Repeater, Black Needle, Clockwork Scythe, Caged Hystrix, Obsidian Hammer, Cursed Child, and Ballistazooka. Melee routes sit on the weapons pages. Sidearms now have their own page. Maxing one weapon happens at the Tarforge, which is not the same place as Franz's machine.
