Mortal Shell 2 Fast Travel: Mother's Breath Between Beacons
Fast travel is Mother's Breath. Use the Gloom Siphon on enough eggs, then hop beacon to beacon, including the prologue chest you may have skipped.
How fast travel unlocks
Current for the launch version.
Mortal Shell 2 fast travel is Mother’s Breath: beacon-to-beacon travel after you put enough eggs into the Gloom Siphon. It is not an Options toggle, and it is not unlocked the moment you cleanse the first beacon.
Use this page when you need to go back — especially to the prologue actuator chest. Named opening beacons stay on the beacons page.
What you need first
- Reach Marrowkeep and find the Gloom Siphon room in the keep.
- Collect eggs as you explore. This page does not invent a count.
- Use the siphon on those eggs until Mother’s Breath unlocks.
- Open the keep’s beacon list and move to a cleansed beacon you already found.
If Mother’s Breath is still dark, you do not have enough eggs in the siphon yet. Do not hunt a second travel menu.
The first gateway boss drop is one documented egg burst — enough, in the recorded run, to finish the siphon after the Etching Needles chest. That is a recovery path, not a claim that every player must fight that boss first.
Why this matters for upgrades
Franz’s first lock is the actuator in the Village Outskirts / first-beacon chest. Leave the prologue without that chest and the later Tarforge parts stay dark even if you find them.
Mother’s Breath is how you go back. From the keep beacon, open the list, move to the Disciple’s Pass / Village Outskirts beacon, enter, and take the middle chest.
That is a return trip, not a new upgrade system.
What fast travel does not do
- It does not open beacons you have not found.
- It does not replace cleansing a new beacon on foot.
- It does not turn on Franz. The actuator still has to be handed over.
- It does not list every later region. This page only records the unlock and the prologue return.
Common mistakes
- Walking out of the first beacon without the chest, then assuming upgrades are gone. Unlock Mother’s Breath and go back.
- Looking for a world-map fast travel before the siphon. The switch is Mother’s Breath.
- Spending eggs on something else and wondering why the list is empty. The siphon is the gate.

Where is Mother’s Breath? It appears on the beacon list in Marrowkeep after the siphon accepts enough eggs.
Can you return to the prologue? Yes. That is how you recover the actuator chest if you walked past it.
